Bind safely
You should always be able to
take a full, deep breath and
move your arms freely.
Aim for
less than 8 hours of binding a day
,
and take breaks whenever you can.
If you are under 18, shorter periods —
around 6 hours — are recommended.
Never sleep in your binder.
For sport, swimming or strenuous
activity, make sure breathing and
movement remain unrestricted.
Stop or change into lighter support
if they don’t.
Take off your binder if you experience
pain, numbness, tingling, dizziness,
unusual breathlessness, overheating,
rubbing or skin irritation.
Want a quick break?
Somewhere private, simply
slip your arms out and pull the
binder below your chest or down
to your waist
or
take off your binder
so your chest can completely relax.
Put it back on when you're ready.
If you have a condition affecting
your breathing, ribs, back or chest,
talk to an appropriate health
professional about binding.
Wear it your way
Start with the correct fit.
Tighter does not mean flatter.
Once your binder is on, use your hands
to gently arrange your chest until
you like the silhouette.
For a flatter look, many suggest moving
tissue
out towards the underarms
,
slightly upward or gently down-and-out.
Experiment.
Different clothes may look better
with slightly different positioning.
Avoid forcing or folding breast tissue
sharply downward.
Your chest should feel comfortably
supported, with no pinching or
concentrated pressure.
The interior silicone print should
hold your finished silhouette in place
once you have arranged it.
